Four Jugend forscht Winners Receive Europa-Prize

Mentoring award prepares young researchers for EUCYS competition

The DFG has awarded its Europa-Preis to four winners of the national Jugend forscht competition. DFG Secretary General Heide Ahrens presented the award on 1 June at the Jugend forscht final in Hamburg.

Four female and six male researchers have received the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize 2025 – Germany’s most prestigious award for researchers in the early stages of their academic career. The award ceremony was held on 3 June in Berlin.

13 New Collaborative Research Centres established

With research topics including liver diseases, transport planning and marine microorganisms, the new CRCs will receive funding from October 2025 for a period of three years and nine months. The reviews of the renewal proposals were postponed due to the Excellence Strategy: they will be discussed at the next meeting of the committee.
